History -

Benjamin Franklin discovered that lightning is electricity by flying a kite in a thunderstorm. Also Thomas Edison finally made a long lasting light bulb with electricity. As well as Samuel Morse, that invented the first electric telegraph, and that is a machine that sends messages to long distances with wire and that was invented in 1844.

Facts about Electricity -

  • Electrical eels can contain up to 500 volts. They use it to hunt and defend themselves.
  • Amps are used to measure electric currents.
  • Volts can be used to measure electric potential energy.
  • Hydro-power use's water for electricity.
  • Electricity first came from the word electron which was a Greek word.
  • Two positive and negative charges repel each other also opposite charges attract each other.
  • Electrical circuit's can contain componant's just like switch's, resistors, and transformers.
  • A bolt of lightning can contain up to 3,000,000 volts and it mostly lasts less than a second.
  • An electric charge can be transferred either by direct contact or by passing along a regular material, such as a electrical wire.
  • The worlds first nuclear power plant that was in Russia started to generate electricity in 1954.

Important Individuals -

  • Ben Franklin proved that lightning is electricity.
  • Thomas Edison invented the first long lasting light bulb.
  • A. Gross invented the first ever electrical refrigerator.
  • In 1911 J. Spangler invented the first electrical vacuum cleaner.

Advantages and Disadvantages -

  • If everyone is using electricity at the same time and setting most likely there will be a power outage.
  • Keep's people from being bored.
  • A electric shock from a defibulator can restart a heart.
  • Can cause an injury because of a shock.

Personal Experience -

I started to learn about electricity when I was in 3rd grade. It was really cool to learn about electricity because it was the only unit I found interesting in science. In 3rd grade I made an electrical circut witch only had a battery, wire, switch, and a light bulb.

The first time I learned about electricity was in 3rd grade. In 3rd grade we made a store with elctrical parts in it. It was really fun designing it because it was my first time working with electrical part's and such. It was actually really confusing how it works, but slowly I started to understand. I also made a circut that made a light bulb work, and that was my first experiament.

How Electricity is used today -

Electricity is basically used every minute of your life ever since the amazing new products that came out and that concern electricity.By saying that if you just think about all the things you used in your everyday life from waking up in the morning till going back to sleap at night and you might just find a lot or pleanty of things that you used, but never noticed. You obviously used electricity some point of the day because if you were to look up something on the computer your using electricity because your using WIFI to connect to the internet and the computer or laptop might be plugged into an outlet to keep from running out of charge. Another one might be if you got hungry. When you go get something out of the fridge and go warm it up in the micro oven, your using elctricity because the micro oven is plugged into a outlet. Also if you remember that you were just taking a snack out of the fridge that was also using electricity because that was also pluged into an outlet and it was also used to keep your snack fresh.
